Smart matching and scores
Smart matching puts a badge on job and resume listings saying how well each one fits. A job seeker sees how well a job fits their resumes. An employer sees how well a resume fits their jobs.
Where match badges show
Section titled “Where match badges show”- Open WP Job Portal → Configurations → Smart Matching.
- Under Match Score Visibility, turn on the places you want.
- Save the settings.
| Option | Shown to | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Show Match Score on Job Listings | Signed-in job seekers | Job listings and search results, including their applied and saved jobs |
| Show Match Score on Resume Listings | Signed-in employers | Resume listings and searches |
| Show Match Score on Applied Resumes | Employers and site administrators | A job’s list of applicants |
All three are on by default. A job seeker with no resume, or an employer with no jobs, sees no badge.
The badges
Section titled “The badges”The score runs from 0 to 100. The badge shows a label rather than the number:
| Score | Badge |
|---|---|
| 80 and above | Excellent Match |
| 60 to 79 | Strong Match |
| 40 to 59 | Good Match |
| 20 to 39 | Partial Match |
| Below 20 | Limited Match |

On job listings, hovering the badge shows Based on your resume and profile information. On resume listings it shows Based on your job and profile information.
How the score is worked out
Section titled “How the score is worked out”For a job seeker, each job is compared with all of their resumes together. For an employer, each resume is compared with all of their jobs together, or with the one job when looking at that job’s applicants.
| Part | Points | How it’s scored |
|---|---|---|
| Title | up to 25 | How many words the job title and resume title share, using the best-matching resume or job |
| Category | 25 | The same job category |
| Job type | 20 | The same job type |
| Location | 20 | A city in common |
| Salary | up to 10 | Whether the job’s maximum pay meets the expected salary on the resume |
For salary:
- Full points when the job pays at least what the resume asks, or when no resume gives a number.
- When the job pays less, a share of the points, in proportion to what it offers.
- Half points when the job’s salary is negotiable or hidden.
Hourly, monthly and yearly pay are converted so they can be compared. A resume figure over 20,000 is treated as yearly.
Match scores are worked out on your own server each time a list is shown. Nothing is sent to an outside service.
