Troubleshooting

Most problems on a WP Job Portal site come from a setting, the server, or a missing page. Start with System Status, which checks the usual suspects for you, then look for your symptom below.

  1. Go to WP Job Portal → System Status.
  2. Read each group from the top. Any row that is not green tells you what to fix.
Group What it checks
Environment WP Job Portal, WordPress, PHP and database versions, WordPress Cron, debug display, memory and upload limits, permalinks, the upload directory.
Mode and workflow readiness The operating mode, the onboarding steps, the Default Page and marked sample data.
Database readiness That the plugin’s tables exist, use InnoDB and have their indexes, and that migrations ran cleanly.
Request security That every route that changes data is checked, and how many requests were refused.
Privacy and payments WordPress privacy tools and payment processing.
Scheduled tasks and mail Job alert delivery, the email queue and the last mail error.

Below the groups are tools for the Reliable notification queue, InnoDB conversion, Privacy retention controls, the Operational audit and the Migration history.

The diagnostics never show passwords, API keys, request contents or candidate email addresses.

WP Job Portal records database errors in its own log.

  1. Go to WP Job Portal → Dashboard.
  2. In the WP Job Portal side menu, select Dashboard → System Errors.
  3. Check the Date and Error of recent entries. Select View for the full message.

An error that appears every time you do the same thing is worth sending to support, along with the System Status report.

The Reliable notification queue on System Status sends mail in batches through WordPress Cron and retries failures. Use Retry failed notifications to send failed messages again.

Job alerts run daily through WordPress Cron. In System Status, check WordPress Cron and Job Alert delivery. If WordPress Cron is disabled, or your site gets few visitors, set up a server cron. See Cron jobs and Job alerts.

In System Status, check that Upload directory is available and writable, and compare Maximum upload size with the file being uploaded. Only the file types listed in Allowed Image Extensions and Allowed Document Extensions under Configurations can be uploaded.

Clear your page cache and browser cache. If you copied a layout into your theme, compare it with the plugin’s current version. See Styling and templates.

Records you changed, records with real data attached, and records in tables that are not InnoDB are protected. Run the InnoDB conversion on System Status (after a backup) if the tables are not InnoDB. See Import demo data.
